Configuring AnkiLingoFlash

After installing Anki-Connect and AwesomeTTS, you need to configure AnkiLingoFlash. Follow these steps:

  1. Click on the AnkiLingoFlash icon in your browser toolbar to open the extension popup.

  2. In the popup, you’ll see two options. Choose one:

    Option A: Free Trial

    • Click on the Sign in with Google button.
    • Follow the prompts to authenticate with your Google account.
    • Once logged in, you’ll see a welcome message and the number of free flashcards remaining.

    Option B: Use Your Own OpenAI Credits

    This option provides unlimited flashcards and is very cost-effective.

  3. Select the language for definitions and mnemonics:
    • Choose from available options: Arabic (Standard, Egyptian), Cantonese, Dutch (Netherlands, Belgium), English (US, UK, Australia, Canada), French (France, Canada), German (Germany, Switzerland), Hindi, Italian (Italy, Switzerland), Japanese, Korean, Mandarin Chinese (Simplified, Traditional), Portuguese (Portugal, Brazil), Russian, or Spanish (Spain, Latin America).
  4. (Optional) Define Your Language Learning Goal:
    • In the settings, you can specify your primary reason for learning the language. This helps tailor the generated flashcards to your specific needs.
    • Examples of learning goals include:
      • Making new friends and socializing
      • Enhancing career prospects and business communication
      • Improving academic performance in language classes
      • Preparing for travel and cultural experiences
      • Developing medical communication skills for patient care
      • Appreciating literature and media in the original language
    • Enter your goal in the provided field. AnkiLingoFlash will use this information to generate more relevant example sentences and content.
